CONTEXT
At Decathlon, the decarbonization of our activities is at the heart of the "North Star" corporate strategy. This strategy is based on 5 pillars, one of which is to make Decathlon a leading player in building a sustainable future.
Within this framework, Decathlon has set itself the ambitious target of reducing its CO2e emissions by 20% by 2026, compared with 2021, across all its activities, including product transport. This target is fully in line with the Paris agreements and SBTI trajectories.
Currently, shipping of transport at Decathlon accounts for 2% of CO2e emissions, with the major part of decathlon's footprint resulting from production activities. Nonetheless, we are convinced that we have a role to play in reducing the carbon footprint of transportation, especially with the significant rise in product shipment.
Decathlon has structured a transport decarbonisation strategy based on the activation of 3 major levers:
Accelerate the use of sustainable means of transport by structuring sustainable procurement policies
Optimize the distance covered by vehicles through more efficient logistical schemes
Improve loading rates, notably by better anticipation of volumes to be shipped
We are seeking a Junior Project Manager to join our Sustainable Development team for supporting countries in their transport decarbonisation journey.
